On "The Wave"

A bit over 40 years ago, the "Biker Wave" in my neck of the woods was a raised fist, palm forward - a power to the people thing. The Wave is always with the left hand, the right is busy with the throttle, of course.

The Wave has gone through more mutations than I can think of since, but today the "cool" wave is to point to the ground. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ABOUT??? I've even seen couples wave in perfect unison, him & her, riding together, new stiff leather shining, perfectly matched helmets, on their huge bike that gets 175 miles per summer. Through the intercom it's "OK here comes a bike, ready? 1-2-3 WAVE!". I can see them practicing in the kitchen, sitting in their chairs lined up in tandem, just to get properly coordinated. I'm glad they're up & riding, it's always great to meet them, but I cringe a bit when I see them try too hard.

OK, it's just the latest, but it just looks silly, a bit too cool. Even The Fonz wouldn't do that so don't. It's dorky. If you want to wave, raise your hand, palm forward, hand open, and move your hand as much or as little as you want. Like you would do to a family member. That is called a wave. Wave to other bikes, just wave.
